All-Mountain Snowboard Camp

The first official meeting point will be Calgary Airport for the group transfer to Fernie. Upon arrival at our lodge it’s a case of unpacking and settling in. Most people hit their beds after a long day travelling but there are usually a few folks who are keen for a drink. Our bar is closed on arrival nights, but you can walk over to Fernie’s Pub.

Enjoy an early breakfast before a quick orientation talk, to ensure everyone is ready for the week ahead. For those with their gear sorted and ready to ride, we’ll head to the mountain and they’ll be a guided mountain tour of Fernie. Otherwise you’re free to take it easy, pick up any gear and enjoy a slow day around town. In the evening they’ll be a welcome dinner and drinks with Nonstop guests and coaches, a great chance to meet everyone and ask questions.

This is what you’re here for. Coaching gets underway on Monday – the first of four coaching days this week, with Wednesday and the weekend off. We’ll guide you around Fernie’s five bowls and your coach will ease the group in, giving you time to find your ski legs. As the week progresses and confidence builds, we’ll start to develop your technique, heading for the powder and off-piste if conditions are good. You’ll also experience First Tracks as we head up the mountain before lifts open to the public. Enjoy delicious and social meals at our lodge in the evenings and soak up Fernie culture with your crew.

The weekend is your opportunity to freeski – and there’s plenty of terrain to explore in Fernie. Head back to your favourite runs, take a leisurely lunch and soak up the views. If you need a rest, you can chill out one of Fernie’s indie coffee shops, head to the spa, or join one of our activities, like a snowshoeing excursion to explore beautiful trails by foot.

We start to notch it up this week. Using the skills you’ve developed in week one we’ll explore more challenging terrain – by this point you’ll be feeling improvements in your technique. Fernie is famed for its tree runs so we’ll develop tactics for skiing in trees and build confidence in steep conditions, ticking-off chutes like the Saddles and Knots. You’ll also be ready for one of the highlights of the trip – an optional guided backcountry cat skiing/boarding day where you’ll ride some of BC’s best powder snow.

We’ll close the week with après and a final farewell dinner with your newfound friends. They’ll be a group transfer back to Calgary Airport for riders returning home.
